Enrolling your child into preschool can be a big decision for parents. Is my child safe in their hands? How will they interact with other children, and what are the costs? These questions can weigh heavily on parents when choosing the best learning environment for their child. I know from experience! As a mother of a 3-year-old, I have toured many preschools in the Reno/Sparks area, and seen the good, the bad, and the ugly! After extensive hours of research, I compiled a list of what I feel are the top preschools in our area.
Creative World Children’s Academy: Lead by Susan Heath-Powers, Creative World is one of Reno’s premier preschools. The curriculum follows Nevada State Pre-K Standards for achievement in all areas of toddler and child development. The teachers utilize a hands-on approach to teach science and math while literature and art is an integral part of the curriculum to foster creativity. In addition, swimming, dance, and gymnastic classes are offered, at an additional fee, through the school.
Blue Kangaroo Learning Center: All activities at Blue Kangaroo are conducted in small groups. By keeping the groups small, teachers can get to know each child, providing encouragement and guidance on an individual basis. It is their philosophy to enable children to learn self-discipline and self-control as these skills are a crucial part of children’s development. Another bonus, Blue Kangaroo have cameras in every classroom and with an access code parents can log in remotely at any time of the day to check in on their child.
Small Strides Daycare: Small Strides is a privately-owned preschool and infant/toddler nursery. Small Strides focuses their attention on learning and education, at the same time providing a fun, encouraging, and safe environment. They truly understand the importance of communication and relationship building during the early years. Each classroom provides a unique program, centered on educational development. Small Strides incorporate fun activities to help your child grow both physically and emotionally.
I hope you find this information useful on your journey to choosing the right preschool for your child. Making this decision can be difficult, but don’t let it stop you from finding the perfect learning environment for your children.
